WSOP Rookie Roundup: Annette

No 21st birthday has been so eagerly anticipated as fiery phenom Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad's. She has accomplished more before her 21st birthday than some poker players will accomplish in a lifetime, winning the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe championship bracelet, finishing as runner-up at the 2007 European Poker Tour Dublin, and recently scoring a win in a 2010 Aussie Millions side event before final-tabling the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event. She plays every online site's big Sunday tournaments and is famous for playing and winning an online tournament without looking at her hole cards. With all of these accomplishments, the newly appointed Full Tilt Poker Pro will be one of the most watched players at the2010 World Series of Poker this summer.

The buzz around her birthday is everything it seems. As soon as she was eligible to play poker in the U.S., she was booked for an episode of Poker After Dark, where she took on some of the game's top players. She was also invited to play at the NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championship this past March, where she defeated Orel Hershiser and Phil Hellmuth before falling to the legendary Doyle Brunson. She will also appear in the recently filmed Doubles Poker Championship, which will air later this year.

This summer, when Obrestad walks the halls of the Rio Convention Center, it won't be the first time. It will, however, be the first time she's not asked to vacate the tournament area because of her age. When asked about her thoughts on how she will fare in the big dance, she holds nothing back. "I'm going to win a bracelet. Somehow I'll end up running good in a stud tournament. I'll probably win a bracelet in Stud or Razz," she said.

I feel like I'm going to do well because I've had a good start of the year and I'm really on top of my game. I'm running pretty good at the moment, I'm not going to lie," she said to PokerNews earlier this year. With her premonition and just her results so far this year, we'd say she's likely to be adding some more jewelry to her collection, meaning Mike Matusow now only has to fade two more women winning bracelets, and really one more if you count the Ladies Event. Watch out players, Obrestad is ready for the hunt and she has her sights set on the WSOP.
