PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Bounty Shootout: Greenstein & Minieri Among Top 36 0001

The 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure hosted the $5,000+250Bounty Shootout on Thursday with 216 players spread out across 36 tables. By the end of Day 1, each of those tables crowned a single winner who would advance to Round 2. Some of the more notable names who emerged victorious over their tables were Team PokerStars ProsDario Minieri (Italy), Greg Debora (Canada), Barry Greenstein (USA), George Lind III (Online), Ville Wahlbeck (Finland), and Jude Ainsworth (Ireland).

Perhaps the most impressive performance of the day came from Minieri over at Table 22. Early on, Minieri collected bounty chips after eliminating Chad Brown and Peter Gould, prompting tablemate Matt Affleck to say, "It is the Dario show here at Table 22." Minieri would continue that show by eliminating Affleck shortly thereafter. Once he defeated Henrik Tollefsen heads up, Minieri completed the clean sweep of the table, collecting all five bounties to become the first player to advance to Round 2.

Team PokerStars saw another of its pros advance when Greenstein managed to outlast the likes of Randy Lew, Nikita Nikolaev, Ankush Mandavia, Stephen ODwyer, and Scott Seiver, whom he faced in the heads-up duel. It was there that both players got the chips all in preflop, Seiver holding the A?9? up against the A?Q? of Greenstein. The board ran out 4?4?8?J?A? and that was all she wrote for Seiver.

Team PokerStars Pros were not the only ones to do well for themselves on Day 1. Some other players that'll be joining them tomorrow include Faraz Jaka, Nick Binger, Michael Binger, Brandon Adams, David "ODB" Baker, Jeff Madsen, Shaun Deeb, and Amnon Filippi.

While all of these players were fortunate enough win their respective tables, not everyone was so lucky. Five out of every six players hit the rail for a total of 180 eliminations. Among them were Daniel Negreanu, Jason Somerville, Sorel Mizzi, Andrew Lichtenberger, Jason Mercier, Eric Baldwin, Dwyte Pilgrim, Bertrand Grospellier, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Jonathan Duhamel, and Melanie Weisner, just to name a few.

The remaining 36 players will return on Friday to play in one of two heats. The first heat will begin at 12 P.M. EST and will feature Tables 1-3; Tables 4-6 will then follow at 7 P.M. EST. By the end of Day 2, only six players will remain to determine the final table of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Bounty Shootout.
