3Linas Laurinenas44,900

6Joni Salo19,950
7Paul Valkenburg16,550
8Joao Silva13,270
9Dmitry Varlamov10,000

With 313 entries, the generated prize pool was 450,720. The top 36 spots paid out, and notables to finish inside the money, but short of the final table, included Jasper Wetemans (17th - 5,100) and Paul Guichard (25th - 3,500).

At the start of the final table, Thierry Morel edged out Paul Tedeschi for the chip lead, but the story lines didn't end there. Both Paul Valkenburg (Unibet Open London) and Dmitry Varlamov (Unibet Open Troia) were each aiming for a second title, placing many eyes on them. Valkenburg began the final table in fifth chip position, and Varlamov began in eighth.

Varlamov's chance at a second title wouldn't work out, as he was eliminated in ninth place for 10,000. According to the Unibet Open live updates, Varlamov was all in with the J?10? against the A?Q? for Joni Salo. The board ran out A?8?5?A?9?, and Varlamov headed to the payout desk.

Joao Silva then busted in eighth place for 13,270 before Valkenburg fell in seventh. Valkenburg moved all in from early position for 563,000, and Hjulstr?m called from the big blind. Valkenburg held the K?Q?, but was behind the A?J? for Hjulstr?m. Although a queen hit the turn on the 8?6?2?Q?A? board, it was the ace on the river that finished the job. Valkenburg took home 16,550.

Salo busted in sixth place for 19,950, then start-of-the-day chip leader Morel was eliminated in fifth place for 24,950. In fourth place was Tedeschi, earning 33,250. He fell when his A?Q? couldn't win the coin flip with Hjulstr?m's 9?9?.

In third place was Linas Laurinenas, taking home 44,900 and leaving Lecomte and Hjulstr?m heads up for the title. At the start of the duel, Hjulstr?m had 4.1 million in chips to Lecomte's 1.9 million.

Despite working his way to a larger lead, Hjulstr?m soon lost momentum, and it was all the Lecomte show as he fought back hard to take the lead from his opponent. Then on the final hand, Lecomte secured the victory by coming out on top in a coin flip for all the chips.

Over three hours of heads-up play came to an end when Hjulstr?m and Lecomte found the money all in. Hjulstr?m held the A?K?, and Lecomte held the 7?7?. Following a board of 9?9?5?7?6?, Hjulstr?m finished as the runner-up, giving Lecomte the title. For second place, Hjulstr?m received 69,800, but it was Lecomte who walked away with the top prize of 100,000.

The next stop for the Unibet Open will be in Riga, Latvia and will take place Dec. 5-8, 2013. For more information, please visit the Unibet Open events page.
