No matter how mentally strong you may be, if you are like just about every other poker player, you have had your share of experiences with the phenomenon known as tilt.

PokerStars Team Pro Matthias Brandner has written a blog titled Psychology in Poker: Perception and Its Influence On Tilt that not only can help you understand the thought processes surrounding tilt, but also how you can identify when this might occur in your game.

The blog starts off explaining some of the psychology of the game we all know and love, before getting into how tilt might occur. The blog also offers some tips on how you can think differently about tilt, which can improve your mental outlook on the game while also help preventing bad events on the felt that could affect the way you approach the game.

Behind the Scenes with Ilari ��Ziigmund�� Sahamies

If you have ever watched the nosebleed cash-game action at Full Tilt Poker, you have seen one of the most animated players in the game, Ilari ��Ziigmund�� Sahamies. The Full Tilt Poker blog gives you some insight into this player's background in a blog titled, Player Profile: Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies.

What you might not have known about Sahamies is that he started off playing poker at a very young age of 15. He has been playing poker over half his life and was introduced to the game by fellow Finnish poker superstar Patrik "FinddaGrind" Antonius.

The duo met at a local pool hall where Sahamies was constantly beating up the competition. It is no surprise that his competitive nature translated to him becoming one of poker's biggest names in nosebleed poker games. Antonius and Sahamies are still close to this day, both never afraid to play the biggest names in the game including Phil Ivey and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.

Sean Yu Wins the First Ever WPT500 For $260,000

The first-ever WPT500 was a success by any stretch of the imagination with almost 3,600 amateur and professional players competing for a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.

The first event of its kind took place from July 4-9 at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas giving poker players an alternative to playing in the World Series of Poker Main Event. The event was sponsored by partypoker and you can read all about it in their blog, Yu Wouldn��t Believe it! �� Sean Wins The First-Ever WPT500 For $260,000!

While the prize pool was huge, the buy-in was affordable at $565. Poker sensations Scott Clements and Christian Harder took 3rd place and 4th place respectively in this event for $120,500 and $90,000 before they got busy playing in the 2014 WSOP Main Event.

The heads-up battle was between Kareem Marshall and Sean Yu. Yu eventually won this tournament when the action got heavy after flopping two pair with 10?7? on a 10?8?7? board. Marshall was awarded $180,000 for his efforts, while Yu won a pair of trophies to go along with the $260,000 top prize.

Additionally Yu won a free seat into next year��s event with accommodations at Aria Resort & Casino. Yu was also awarded a $2,000 package to travel to the next WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, England taking place from Nov. 11 to Nov. 16.
