The World Poker Tour Amsterdam 6,000 High Roller attracted 52 unique players that accounted for 24 reentires, bringing the total field to 76 entries and creating a prize pool of 420,204. The tournament was originally scheduled as a two-day affair, but due to the large field size, it was extended an extra day to accommodate heads-up play between Jack Salter and Jason Wheeler.

Salter began heads-up play with 2.415 million to Wheeler's 1.385 million, but everything went the latter's way on Day 3. In the end, Wheeler took home the 125,000 first-place prize, while Salter, who previously finished second in both the EPT10 Grand Final Main Event and 2014 World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Main Event, earned 90,000 for his runner-up finish.

The win marked Wheeler's biggest score since 2009, which is when he finished runner-up in a World Series of Poker $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event for $418,122. Prior to winning the WPT Amsterdam High Roller, Wheeler had more than $1.5 million in career tournament winnings.

It wasn't a long Day 3, with few hands being played and Wheeler pretty much winning all of them. In the last hand, Salter was down to 545,000 and he open-shoved from the button. Wheeler made the call.

Wheeler: 3?3?
Salter: K?7?

Wheeler's good friend Bryn Kenney leaned over, and Wheeler announced what the situation was. "Threes against king-seven," he said.

Wheeler made a small fist pump when the flop was spread 3?5?6?, but he wasn't out of the woods just yet.

"A four would be a fun card," Salter said.

The Q? hit the turn and Salter put down his head a little. The 8? on the river was a blank, and Wheeler and Salter shook hands. Salter congratulated Wheeler, with the latter elated to finally win in Holland.

"Finally get that trophy in Amsterdam!" exclaimed Wheeler, who previously finished 12th and 10th in Amsterdam's 2013 and 2014 Master Classic of Poker respectively.
