Event #1 of the 2015 Borgata Poker Open, which boasted a $2 million guarantee, attracted 3,922 entrants, and on Friday night it was Federico Ottenio who conquered a tough final table to win the $325,127 first-place prize.

Prior to the win, Ottenio had $49,264 in lifetime earnings, with $34,099 of that coming after he won the Borgata Poker Deepstacks Challenge $350 NLHE in July of last year.

Final Table Results

PlacePlayerPrize
1Federico Ottenio$325,127
2Nickolai Orlov$211,005
3Sirous Jamshidi$139,376
4Joseph Silva$114,529
5Jessica Dawley$92,206
6Raoul Cheong$70,853
7Will Failla$50,470
8Ismael Cabrera$36,378
9Chris Limo$23,294

After Chris Limo and Ismael Cabrera fell in ninth and eight place respectively, one of poker's most colorful characters followed them out the door. According to updates from the event, it happened in Level 36 (200,000/400,000/40,000) when Will "The Thrill" Failla moved all in for his last 3.5 million and Ottenio looked him up.

Ottenio: J?J?
Failla: 2?2?

Failla was in dire straits, and he watched helplessly as the board ran out J?6?5?5?Xx to give Ottenio a full house. Failla took home $50,470 for his performance, while Raoul Cheong earned $70,853 after falling in sixth place a short time later.

In Level 38 (300,000/600,000/50,000), Ottenio opened for 1.5 million under the gun and action folded to Jessica Dawley, who moved all in for just over 9 million from the big blind. Ottenio made the call with the Q?Q?, which was ahead of Dawley's A?10?. The board ran out a clean K?8?2?3?9?, and the 888poker Pro had to settled for fifth place and $92,206 in prize money, which was the largest score of her career. Not long after, Joseph Silva joined Dawley on the rail in fourth.

The final hand of the tournament occurred in Level 39 (400,000/800,000/100,000) when Ottenio opened for 3 million from the button and Sirous Jamshidi called from the small blind. Nickolai Orlov then moved all in from the big, Ottenio moved all in over the top, and Jamshidi opted to call off.

Orlov: 7?7?
Ottenio: A?Q?
Jamshidi: A?7?

The K?10?8? flop kept Orlov in the lead, but the Q? turn was gin for Ottenio. The 6? river failed to change a thing, and just like that Ottenio scored a double knock out to secure the victory.

In other news, former PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event winner Harrison Gimbel topped a field of 602 entrants to win Event #2 for $49,077, while Scott Baumstein defeated Tim D'Alessandro in heads-up play to win Event #3 for $12,108.
