Austria's capital city plays host to the Season 14 partypoker World Poker Tour Vienna Main Event starting on March 15, 2016. This marks the fifth time that the WPT has held one of its main events in Vienna and the fourth consecutive occasion the Montesino Pokertainment Centre has welcomed players with open arms.

It was not until Season 9 that Vienna hosted a WPT Main Event. The inaugural WPT Vienna tournament attracted 555 entrants, each paying 3,500, who were outlasted by Russia's Dmitry Gromov. Gromov came out on top of a final table that included the likes of Maksim Kolosov, Simon Ravnsbaek, Mario Adinolfi, and Alessio Isaia.

Denmark's Morten Christensen won the Season 10 edition of the WPT Vienna Main Event before Vladimir Bozinovic became part of the exclusive Champions Club in Season 11. There was no WPT Vienna festival on Season 12's calendar, but it returned in Season 13 with Greece's Konstantino Nanos walking away with top honors.
