WSOP Day 12: Negreanu Shining Again in 8-Game Event 0001

The Millionaire Maker kicked off Saturday with Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier and 2009 Main Event champion Joe Cada advancing. Thousands more will be back in the Rio on Sunday hoping to join them on Monday��s Day 2 restart. In the $1,500 8-Game Mix, eyes are on Daniel Negreanu as he continues to shine in the WSOP��s early stages.

Event #21: $1,500 8-Game Mix 6-Handed

The mixed-game fun got underway on Sunday and attracted 472 entries for a first-place prize of $145,577. Leading the field was Christopher Vitch with 98,700 chips followed by Alex Luneau (72,400) and Daniel Negreanu (57,300). Negreanu craves a bracelet after finishing second and third already this summer. Other notables advancing include five-time bracelet winner Jason Mercier (11,700) and wife Natasha Mercier (11,900), three-time bracelet winners Barry Greenstein (3,800) and Eli Elezra (22,400), and former November Niner Josh Beckley (33,000).

Event #18: $565 Pot-Limit Omaha

A massive 3,190 entries brings a massive prize pool in this one and first place will take home $224,344 and a well-earned bracelet. The field of 107 players was cut down to nine who return on Sunday to play to a winner. After both Friday flights, the tournament saw a total of 3,332 entries to set a new record for the largest live pot limit Omaha tournament ever.

Jessie Bryant leads the pack after two days of play with 3,245,000 followed by Igor Sharaskin with 2,010,000 and Scott Davies with 1,765,000. The winner takes home of $224,344. Bryant, of Conway, Ark., is no stranger to success on the felt and owns four WSOP-Circuit rings. He has more than $395,000 in tournament winnings and is looking for his first bracelet.

Event #20B: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em MILLIONAIRE MAKER

The first flight of this event got underway on Saturday and this year��s attracted 3,438 entries, a nice increase of 350 from a year ago. The day ended with 535 returning for Day 2 after tomorrow��s second flight.

Leading the pack is Boris Kolev (290,700) followed by Barry Hutter (259,900), Scott Skirba (207,500), Michael Falson (191,700), Darwin Giles (185,000), Kevin Saul (146,200), and Jonas Wexler (150,000). Other notables still remaining in the field include: 2009 Main Event winner Joe Cada (66,700), and Bertrand ��Elky�� Grospellier (60,200), runner-up in the $111,000 High Roller for One Drop.

The second starting flight in this event gets underway on Sunday and plenty will turn out looking for some cool cash. The five-day event featured one flight on Saturday and one on Sunday with those advancing returning on Monday to begin Day 2. Event #22: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship

Plenty of pros will be at the Rio on Sunday hoping their reading skills and a little luck will get them to the final table of this popular event. In 2016, Jason Mercier took the title and $273,335 that started a massive run through the WSOP that ended as Player of the Year.
