It took just over 12 hours for Pete Chen to overcome a 1,023-player field and claim his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet in Online Event #3: WSOP.com No-Limit Hold'em Ultra Deepstack. Chen defeated Mexico's Tzur "Selvastar7" Levy heads-up and took home $82,559 for his efforts.

Chen is a regular WSOP.com grinder and just recently came off a $5,025 score in July after getting 18th place in WSOP.com Event #32: No-Limit Hold'em Championship. Today's victory marks a career-high online score for Chen, who will add to his $579,059 in previous tournament earnings.

Players began the day with over 1,000 big blinds, but as a result of the event's turbo-like structure, eliminations came fast and furious. It took approximately 8 hours to go from 1,023 entries (including 334 rebuys) to 248 players and burst the money bubble. From that point, the field dwindled to fewer than 100 players just one hour after the money bubble burst.

Notables who managed to cash include Noam "Lokass27" Muallem, Ryan "Protential" Laplante, Chad "Alienprobed" Eveslage, Shawn "clairvoyant" Kjetland, and Daniel "Dnegs" Negreanu, who lost a flip late in the day to get eliminated in 45th place.

The final table began with an average stack of just about 20 big blinds and Levy in the chip lead. As expected, the shorter stacks fell in short order, with Chen and Levy responsible for five final-table eliminations between them.

Chen was able to enter head-ups with an over 2-1 chip lead, thanks largely to his eliminations of Melody "Meliano34" Mckee and Todd "Google_Man" Rodenborn both of whom Chen eliminated after getting all in with the worst of it and spiking a pair.

Chen was able to maintain his chip lead throughout the heads-up battle and eventually got Levy to commit his stack all in preflop with a dominated ace. Levy managed to take the lead on the flop, but a fateful jack on the river paired Chen's ace-jack and awarded him the victory.
