Don't Push Me

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The final hand before the break saw the board read {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, with Sebastian Martineau moving all in for 515,000 in chips. Monica Eastick was the other player in the hand, and asked the dealer how much was in the pot.

"I've got a hand, and I think I'm good," said Eastick. "I'm going to fold, but don't push me around," as she tabled {10-}{10-}

Jamie Mulligan Eliminated in 5th Place (NZ$25,875)

After recently losing a big hand, Jamie Mulligan was all in for his tournament life. The hand started with the table folding around to Mulligan in the small blind, who announced all in. He picked the wrong time to try and steal the big blind, as Monica Eastick snap-called, having him covered.

Eastick: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Mulligan: {K-Spades}{4-Spades}

The flop came out {9-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} as Eastick flopped a set. The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, giving Mulligan a straight draw.

"No," yelled Eastick, as she realised she could lose the hand. The {5-Clubs} fell on the river to give her the victory, sending the start-of-day chip leader to the cashier.

Mulligan Dropping

The action was caught on the flop, with the board reading {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Sebastian Martineau was first to act and checked his option. Jamie Mulligan then bet out 40,000, which was called. The turn came the {8-Spades}, and Martineau once again checked. Mulligan bet out 83,000, before he was faced with an instant all in for approximately 500,000 in chips. Mulligan opted to fold, as the overwhelming chip leader from the start of the day, has made a downward spiral on the leader board.

Miroslav Sheynin Eliminated in 6th Place (NZ$21,735)

Miroslav Sheynin - 6th Place
Miroslav Sheynin - 6th Place

It was inevitable, that with such a short-stack, Miroslav Sheynin would eventually commit the last of his chips. The action folded around to him in the cut-off, and he pushed in his remaining 190,000 in chips. Pravin Harji made the call from the small blind, and the cards were shown.

Sheynin: {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Harji: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}, and although he had a flush draw going to the river card, Sheynin was unable to improve, as he was sent to the rail.

Smith Takes the Lead

We have just witnessed the biggest hand on the final table. Action started with Geoff Smith opening to 35,000, before Miroslav Sheynin raised to 85,000 in chips, which was called. The flop came out {5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}, and Sheynin continued with a bet of 60,000, before Smith announced a raise, making it 140,000. Sheynin paused for a moment, before announcing all in, for 600,000 which was snap-called.

Sheynin: {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Smith: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Both players had a flush draw, with Smith being behind, but with outs to make a straight. The turn fell the {10-Clubs} to give Smith the lead, and when the river dropped the {Q-Hearts}, some thought that Sheynin had won the hand. Smith, however, made a queen-high straight, to win the pot, and move to over a million in chips.
