Yong Shows the Bluff

Level 3 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

In one of the last hands before the break, we happened by the table when Wai Kin Yong, the son of high-stakes regular Richard Yong, had the all-in triangle out in front of him. The board read {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts}, Yong was in the big blind, and action was on Praz Bansi, who was contemplating what to do from the under-the-gun position.

Eventually Bansi released his hand and Yong couldn't help himself... he showed the {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} for the bluff.

The Plan for the Day

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Tournament Director Danny McDonagh has just informed the players that the plan for the day is to play seven levels. At the end of Level 4 which is when registration closes there will be a half hour dinner break.

Big Pot for Meyers as Rathi Falls

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

There was approximately 85,000 in the pot on a board reading {6-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} when Brandon Meyers fired out a pot-sized bet from middle position. Shashank Rathi hit the tank before making the call, but mucked when Meyers rolled over the {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for two pair.

Rathi was left with just 18,000 after the hand, and we're sure it doesn't come as much of a surprise to learn that he was eliminated a few hands later.

Tureniec Shoves the Turn

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

With around 180,000 in the pot and a board reading {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{9-Spades}, Shashank Rathi bet 63,000 from the big blind only to have Michael Tureniec moved all in. Rathi, who had around 135,000 behind, spent several minutes in the tank before releasing his hand.

Warm-Up Champ the First to Go

Level 2 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Earlier this week Jian Yang topped a field of 338 to win the PokerStars.net Asia-Pacific Poker Tour Asia Championship of Poker (ACOP) HK$25,000 Warm-Up Event for HK$1,700,000. He decided to use some of those winnings to enter the High Roller, but it proved an unwise choice as Yang was the day's first elimination.

Unfortunately we failed to catch his bustout hand.
