After eight 60-minute levels of play in the 100,000 EPT Super High Roller here at the 2023 PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona, it was Kayhan Mokri coming out on top of this star-studded lineup. Mokri bagged 1,713,000 equivalent to nearly seven starting stacks and will return to Day 2 looking to keep that momentum going in hopes of taking home his first EPT Trophy.

It was a slow start to the day as it was delayed two hours waiting for players to show up, but by the end of the day, there were a total of 14 entries on Day 1 to generate a prize pool of 1,358,280. Late registration will remain open until the start of Day 2 tomorrow, so it is expected to be even larger. Just six players were remaining after the clock struck 0 on level 8, and all have their eyes on the first-place prize of this prestigious event.

Mokri didn't get off the best start in the day, finding himself with just 50,000 in Level 5. However, he began to pick up steam as the night was in its final couple of hours. Mokri had built his stack from 50,000 to over 500,000 when his pocket aces cracked the flop set of Sam Grafton on the river to bring him closer to the 1,000,000 chip mark.

PokerStars Ambassador Alejandro "Papo MC" Lococo bagged the second-highest stack with 765,000, proving he isn't afraid to get in the mix and battle for pots.

Day 2 starts tomorrow, Aug 27th at 2:00 p.m. local time. Blinds will be 3,000/6,000 with a 6,000 big blind ante. Players will be able to register until the start of the day.
