The 2024 PokerStars European Poker Tour Monte Carlo series at Sporting Monte-Carlo continues today with the second of two starting flights for the 2,200 FPS High Roller. While Day 1a is currently underway, those who fail to find a bag by the end of the first starting flight will get another chance in Day 1b, beginning at 6 p.m. local time.

Yiannis Liperis comes into this event as the defending champion. Last year at the 2023 EPT Monte Carlo, he overcame a field 1,234 entrants and a stacked final table that included Tom Orpaz, Weiran Pu and Candido Cappiello. He last defeated Sim Kok Wai to take home the top prize of 406,670 along with the trophy.

The second starting flight features a near-identical structure to the first one, with the only difference being that levels are 20 minutes in length instead of 40. Players will start with 30,000 in chips and the blinds will begin at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. The plan is to play until roughly 15% of the field remains and all players who bag their chips at the end of the night will be in the money for tomorrow's Day 2, which will play down to a winner. A 20-minute break is scheduled after every five levels and unlimited reentries are permitted for this event.

The field currently stands at just over 600 entrants midway through the first starting flight, making it very likely that last year's field of 1,234 entrants will be smashed by the end of Day 1b.

As always, stay tuned to PokerNews as we bring you all the action for this event until a winner is crowned on the final day beginning tomorrow, April 28, at noon local time.
