The Heartland Poker Tours first-ever stop at Hollywood Casino Columbus drew a bigger-then-expected field of 588 entries. On Monday, the final nine players returned to battle it out in what will be Ohios first nationally-televised final table.

After three long days of play, Spenser Cramer came out on top of a stacked final table to capture a $191,723 first-place prize. Prior to the win, Cramer had less than $6,000 in lifetime tournament cashes, which makes sense given he prefers to spend his time playing pot-limit Omaha cash games.

I was not a very good tournament player before this tournament, Cramer said. Its been a long weekend but its been a great weekend. Its great to finally win a big one. The final table was great. That was the most stacked table Ive ever seen before. Every player at that table was a great player, I have a lot of respect for all of them.

As for the big payday, the 25-year-old poker pro has some plans: I have a newborn to take care of and a trip to Vegas this summer."

Cramers win was made all the more special given the competition he had to defeat, which included two World Series of Poker bracelet winners, a World Poker Tour champion, and a former MSPT winner.

Final Table Action

World Series of Poker bracelet winner Joey Couden was the first final table casualty after calling off on the river with the nut straight only to see Ryan Wince roll over jacks full of nines. Coudens friend and fellow bracelet winner Adam Friedman followed him out the door after losing a flip with jacks to Mandeep Sahs Big Slick for most of his stack.

World Poker Tour champ Kevin 1$ickDisea$s Eyster fell when his king-queen failed to get there against Mahs ace-eight all in preflop, and then start-of-the-day chip leader and 2018 MSPT Cleveland Poker Open champ Abdul Amer busted shortly after his ace-king was overcome by Jeff Harts ace-nine all in preflop, and Thila Narayanan took his leave when his ace-queen succumbed to Cramers ace-ten when a ten spike on the flop.

Hart ran jacks into Cramers pocket aces to bust in fourth place, and Sah was Cramers next victim after jamming with ace-three and failing to get there against two black nines.

Cramer began heads-up play with a little less than a 2:1 chip lead over Ryan Wice. In the final hand of the tournament, Wice three-bet jammed with eight-nine suited only to see Cramer call with aces, which held.

Season XV of the HPT will continue with a $1,650 buy-in Main Event at Ameristar East Chicago May 9-14. PokerNews will be on hand to offer live updates from that event. Click here for a look at the full schedule.

Ryan Wince
Ryan Wince

On the button Spenser Cramer picked up some good news as he looked down at the {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Ryan Wince in the big blind raised his short stack all in with the {9-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Cramer immediately called and turned over his hand, almost tasting the title. But the flop provided some hope for Wince when it came {j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts} giving him a pair and a straight draw.

The turn was a blank {2-Spades} for Wince and the river was no help either when it came the {3-Clubs} to finish Wince's tournament as runner-up.

Wince will take home an amazing $118,434.

Wince bet 750,000 and Cramer made the call.

The turn came the {6-Spades} and it was checked around to the river, which was the {7-Spades}. Wince bet 800,000 and Cramer raised to 3M. Wince mucked his hand.

Cramer's Straight Deals Blow To Sah

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

On a board that read {j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{4-Spades}{q-Hearts} Mandeep Sah held top pair with the {q-Spades}{7-Clubs} and Spencer Cramer held {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

The river was the {5-Spades} to complete the straight for Cramer. Sah bet 425,000. Cramer waited for a few moments before raising to 1.9 million.

Sah took a while to think about the decision before putting in the call. Cramer immediately turned over the nuts and collected the huge pot.

Spenser Cramer looked down at the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} on the button and raised it up to 300,000. Jeff Hart had the {j-Clubs}{j-Spades} and decided to three-bet to 900,000.

Cramer four-bet all in and Hart called to put his Main Event life at stake as a big underdog.

The aces held for Cramer as the board would not provide any saving grace for Hart when it came {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}.

Hart walked away in fourth place.

Thilia Narayanan moved all in for 1M chips under the gun and it folded around to Spenser Cramer, who made the call in the big blind.

Narayanan: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Cramer: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Cramer's tens were enough to eliminate Narayanan in fifth place.
