The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Floridas Seminole Coconut Creek to live report action from both the $2,200 High Roller and $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought wed profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #6: $400 Monster Stack a massive turnout of 711 entries created a $234,630 prize pool. Coming out on top was 46-year-old JP Kolb of Youngsville, Lousiana, who took home $43,742 and his first gold ring.

I feel pretty good. Ive had a lot of seconds and thirds, he said after the win. Everything except for the win so it felt really good to get the win. All my friends tell me that Im the best player they know without jewelry. Now I finally have jewelry so I dont have to listen to that anymore.

He continued: I didnt have a big run at the final table. I played rather conservative and won some decent pots here and there just to actually stay. Even when there were three of us left, I only had 3 million. It was an uphill battle.
The five-figure score was the biggest of Kolbs burgeoning poker career.
