CallMeBatya Wins Event #6 $170 Mini Main Event

After coming into Day 3 with the chip lead in the 2020 GGPoker WSOP Winter Online Circuit Event #6: $170 Mini Main Event, Russia's "CallMeBatya" has also taken the tournament down for $277,277 by defeating "asky86" heads-up. The tournament attracted 13,912 players who reentered 3,566 times to get to 17,478 entries in total which created a prize purse of $2,733,559.

It cost "CallMeBatya" 13 bullets to get through to Day 2 and what a great return on investment for the Russian player whose previous best result on GGPoker was when they finished in 17th place on the Big 50 for $5,941. In total, they had collected almost $20,000 in cashes in tournaments with an average buy-in of $69. With this result here today, they have easily broken any previous records.

On the other hand, "asky86" qualified for the Mini Main Event by getting through a $20 satellite and their previous best result came when they won the $25,20 GGMaster Daily in the Bounty Hunter Series for $4,533. With just over $9,000 in total cashes on GG, the cash in this event eclipsed any previous results.

Alessandro Siena, Ioannis Angelou-Konstas, and Robert "robdag83" Glasspool were some of the more familiar names on the final table with "Vaatefingre", "eisbdh12", "L-love", and "zopino" completing the line-up.

Final Table Action

At the start of the day, the blinds were rolled back to give players an average of 40 big blinds to play with as this was a new feature introduced by GGPoker. Once the players had selected their seats at the final table, it would only take a few minutes before "CallMeBatya" lost their chip lead by doubling up "L-love". It would take almost 40 minutes before "zopino" ran their eights into the kings of Siena who would take over the chip lead.

Twenty minutes later, Glasspool would be next to go who couldn't make his short stack work for him in any way. He got his last 19 big blinds in with ace-eight but Angelou-Konstas held pocket tens and held. Even though "L-love" has found a double-up at the start of the day, they couldn't keep hold of those chips as they lost them all to "asky86" when the latter had pocket tens too.

Robert Glasspool
Robert Glasspool finished in eighth place for $36,974

"asky86" claimed the chip lead and only increased it, even more, when they took out "eisbdh12" with ace-king. "CallMeBatya" sported the shortest stack but doubled through "Vaatefingre" who then lost the remainder of their stack to Siena. Siena held the rockets which didn't get cracked by the ace-king of "Vaatefingre".

"CallMeBatya" still had the shortest stack but some unfortunate hands for Angelou-Konstas got the latter to the bottom of the counts before he put his tournament life at risk with pocket fives. "asky86" held king-queen and found another queen on the flop to connect with. At this point, "asky86" held almost 55% of all the chips in play and only increased that lead before Siena was sent to the rail in third place when he got his last twelve big blinds in with queen-seven and was looked up by "CallMeBatya" who held the aces.

Alessandro Siena
Alessandro Siena finished in third place for $155,918

"asky86" still had more than a 2:1 chip lead but "CallMeBatya" quickly evened out the stacks before taking the chip lead back after having had lost it for quite a while. "asky86" doubled up twice to get the stacks back to even again but "CallMeBatya" kept the pressure on to quickly build the lead up again. In the final hand of the night, "CallMeBatya" three-bet shoved with ace-nine and "asky86" called with ace-jack. "CallMeBatya" flopped top pair and "asky86" bricked the gutshots to a straight to double or split the pot to see them leave the final table stage as the runner-up.
