Sick Hand, Take Two

Yuval Bronshtein has been pushing with his big stack all afternoon, but when he raised with {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} Bob Collison decided enough was enough and moved in the last of his chips with {Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Bronshtein was getting the right price, so he called.

The {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop gave Collison an inside-straight draw that canceled out Bronshteins jacks. The {7-Spades} came on the turn and Bronshtein was drawing dead to a four.

And the {4-Diamonds} spiked on the river.

A three-outer this time, not as bad as the one-outer than eliminated Gioi Luong, but that was still enough to eliminate Bob Collison in 6th place, for which he receives $41,427.

Gioi Luong Loses A Brutal Hand

Yuval Bronshtein limped into a pot with {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and called when Gioi Luong raised with {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. And the flop?

{8-Spades}{K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Youd expect fireworks and thats exactly what we had. Bronshtein bet, Luong raised all-in and Bronshtein calledand found out he was drawing to the two eights left in the deck.

The turn? The {8-Diamonds}.

No Ace fell on the river and that horrible beat meant that Gioi Luong was eliminated in 7th place instead of becoming our chip leader. The $31,070 hell take home will probably provide small comfort after losing that hand.

Ray Coburn Is Eliminated in 8th Place

Running low on chips, Ray Coburn bet the pot with pocket fours, and Gioi Luong raised with A-K. Coburn called and the race was on. Coburn fell badly behind when the flop came {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and when the {10-Clubs} and {7-Diamonds} fell on the turn and river that brought Coburns day to an end. He wins $22,894 for his 8th-place finish.

Big Hand for Newburger

Jason Newburger raised with {J-Spades}{8-Spades} and Greg Hopkins called. The {4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop gave Newburger top pair, and when he led out and Hopkins called.

The {J-Clubs} fell on the turn, giving Newburger top two, and his bet set Hopkins to thinking. Hopkins counted out the chips for a call, re-stacked them, and then announced a raise to 80K. That sent Newburger into the tank. Had Hopkins flopped a set, or made his straight on the turn? Jason thought a good long while before he announced all-in and pushed his chips into the pot. When Hopkins didnt insta-call Newburger had to know he was good, and in the end Hopkins mucked his {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

Bryan O'Connell Is Eliminated in 9th Place

In late position Bryan OConnell raised with {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Greg Hopkins re-raised with pocket Tens. OConnell took some time making up his mind before he pushed the rest of his chips into the middle. Hopkins called, and the {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} board didnt give OConnell the help he needed. Bryan OConnell wins $16,353 for his ninth-place finish.

A Better Spot

Jason Newburger raised with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}and Pete Lawson woke up with 2 black Aces. Lawson re-raised to 85,000 and Newburger considered the situation for a few minutes before deciding that Ace-Queen wasnt the hand he wanted to gamble his tournament life on.
