Rich Cracks The Million Chip Mark

Since we have gotten to seven handed, play has tightened up considerably, with most hands being won with one raise preflop. However, there have been a few hands that have seen a flop, and Jordan Rich has won most of them. In the first hand, Rich made it two bets, and Dale Eberle three bet from the button. The blinds folded, and Rich called. The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Rich checked, then raised when Eberle bet. Eberle called, and the turn brought the {8-Spades}. Rich bet out, and Eberle raised once again. This time, Rich reraised, and Eberle called. The river brought the {5-Spades}, and while it looked like an action card, both players checked. Everle showed {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a straight, but Rich showed {j-Hearts}{9-Clubs} for a better straight. Rich took another pot off of Stephen Bass later, and Rich is now your chip leader with over 1 million.

Dom Denotaristefani Eliminated in 8th Place ($17,089)

Dom Denotaristefani
Dom Denotaristefani

Dom Denotaristefani raised it up on the button, Stephen Bass re-raised and Denotaristefani made the call.

The flop came down {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} Bass bet, and Denotaristefani called to see the {4-Spades} turn.

Bass checked the turn, Denotaristefani bet out, and Bass check-raised him. Denotaristefani put out one last raise that put him all in and Bass called.

Denotaristefani showed {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a pair of aces but Bass had him crushed with {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for two pair. The river was a meaningless {4-Diamonds} and Denotaristefani hit the rail with his third cash and second final table in Limit Hold'em for the 2011 WSOP.

Katchalov Takes One Off Eberle

Dale Eberle raised it up in the small blind and Eugene Katchalov called from the big blind to see the {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Spades} flop.

Eberle bet and Katchalov called to see the {5-Diamonds} turn.

Eberle bet, Katchalov raised it up, and Eberle put in a third bet to make it 72,000. Katchalov called and the two saw the {8-Hearts} river.

Eberle bet and Katchalov called. Eberle, as he usually does, slapped his down very confidently to reveal {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} but Katchalov had him beat with {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Katchalov moved up to nearly 1,000,000 in chips after the hand.

Christoph Kwon Crippled, Eliminated in 9th Place ($13,269)

Christoph Kwon
Christoph Kwon

Jordan Rich came in for a raise, and Christoph Kwon made it three bets in the small blind. It folded back to Rich, who made it four bets. Kwon called, and the flop came {q-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Kwon check called a bet from Rich, and he did the same on the {6-Diamonds} turn. The river came the {5-Hearts}, and Kwon checked a third time. Rich bet out, and Kwon went into the tank. He eventually folded, leaving just 27,000 behind.

Kwon found a double up a few hands later when he put his last 27,000 with {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts} against Dom Denotaristefani, who was priced in with {7-Spades}{2-Spades} in the big blind. But a few hands later, Kwon found himself all in once again, after a raising war preflop with Adam Tyburski.

Kwon: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Tyburski: {7-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The flop came {10-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, keeping Tyburski in the lead. The {4-Hearts} hit the turn, and the river came the {6-Hearts}. Tybruski collected the pot, and Kwon was eliminated.

Ari Engel Eliminated In 10th Place ($10,378)

Ari Engel Eliminated in 10th
Ari Engel Eliminated in 10th

Ari Engel is our first player to be eliminated from the final table of the $1,500 Limit Holdem Shootout.

In the hand that crippled him, Dale Eberle raised it up to 24,000 preflop, Engel re-raised to 36,000 and Eberle called to see the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop.

Engel bet out 12,000, Eberle raised to 24,000 and Engel made the call.

The turn came {4-Clubs}, Engel checked, Eberle bet out 24,000 and Engel called.

The river was the {q-Hearts} and again Engel checked, Eberle bet out 24,000 and Engel called. Eberle showed {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for the nut flush. Engel was crippled and left with only 8,000 after the hand.

A few hands later, Engel put his last 8,000 in from the cutoff, Stephen Bass called in the small blind and Justin Pechie called in the big blind. The two checked the board the whole way down as it ran out {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and Bass showed {10-Spades}{4-Spades} for a pair of fours. Engel showed {a-Spades}{3-Clubs} for ace high and that sent him to the rail in tenth.

Eberle Dents Katchalov

Eugene Katchalov has been winning most the pots he's entered at this final table, but he has just lost a decent sized one to Dale Eberle. It folded around to those two, who were in the blinds, and Eberle limped in the small blind. Katchalov raised, and Eberle called. The flop came out {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and Eberle check called a bet from Katchalov. The turn brought the {7-Clubs}, and this time, Eberle bet out. Katchalov called, and the river brought the {a-Hearts}. Once again, Eberle bet and Katchalov called, and Eberle showed {k-Spades}{q-Clubs} for a pair of kings. Katchalov mucked, and Eberle took the pot.

Engel Crippled, Then Doubles Up

Ari Engel has just had a roller coaster of a few hands that has seen him win and lose a big pot. Dale Eberle came in for a raise, and Engel put in a third bet. Action folded to Jordan Rich in the big blind, who made the call, as did Eberle. The flop came {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and it checked around to Engel, who bet out. Rich raised, and Eberle folded. Engel called, and the turn brought the {2-Diamonds}. Rich bet out and Engel called, and the same thing happened on the river, the {10-Diamonds}. Rich showed {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and Engel mucked.

On the very next hand, Eberle once again came in for a raise, and Engel once again three bet. This time it folded around to Eberle, who made the call. The flop came out {10-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}. The two got in a raising war that saw Engel's last 46,000 get in the middle. The two flipped their cards up, and Engel was in bad shape.

Eberle: {a-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Engel: {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Needing a jack, the turn brought the {8-Clubs}, giving Engel an inside straight draw as well, and that came on the river when the {9-Clubs} hit. Engel secured the double up, but he's still one of the short stacks.

Eugene Katcholov
Eugene Katcholov

Eugene Katchalov raised it to 24,000 from the small blind and got re-raised to 36,000 by Ari Engel in the big blind. Katchalov called and the two saw the {9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop.

Katchalov checked the flop, Engel bet out 12,000 and Katchalov called.

The turn came {7-Diamonds} Katchalov checked, Engel again bet out for 24,000 and Katchalov called.

The river was the {7-Spades} and one last time, Katchalov checked, Engel bet, and Katchalov called.

Engel showed {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} but they were bested by the {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs} of Katchalov.

Katchalov has a big chip lead now with nearly 900,000.
