Ashton on a Tear; Bakes in the Danger Zone

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 7,000 ante

Matthew Ashton: {x-}{x-} / {4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{k-Clubs} / {x-}
David "Bakes" Baker: {x-}{x-} / {2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} / {x-}

Hand #109: Matthew Ashton completed with the {4-Hearts} up and David "Bakes" Baker, who brought it in with the {2-Diamonds}, made the call. Ashton proceeded to check-call a bet on fourth street before taking the lead on fifth and firing out. Baker made the call and then bet when Ashton check sixth. A call was made and then Ashton check-called a bet on seventh with {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the pair of eights. It turned out to be good as Baker sent his cards to the muck.

Not long after, Ashton won another decent pot to vault into the chip lead.

Matthew Ashton: {x-}{x-} / {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Clubs} / {x}
Mike Matusow: {x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} Fold
Mike Leah: {x-}{x-} / {2-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} / {x-}

Hand #102: Matthew Ashton completed with the {9-Clubs} and then called after Mike Matusow raised and Mike Leah called. Matusow took the lead on fourth and bet, inspiring both his opponents to call. The same action occurred on fifth before Matusow slowed down with a check on sixth.

Leah took the opportunity to bet, Ashton called and Matusow, who had been the aggressor, got out of the way. Leah fired out one final bet on seventh and it did the trick as Ashton sent his cards to the muck.

Leah vs. Ashton

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Mike Leah: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} / {j-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{a-Spades}{8-Spades} / {9-Clubs}
Matthew Ashton: {9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} / {q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} / {x-}

Hand #86: David "Bakes" Baker completed with the {K-Clubs} but then folded after Matthew Ashton raised and Mike Leah called. Ashton kept the pressure on with a bet on fourth and Leah called.

When Leah took the lead on fifth, he bet and then called a raise from Ashton.

Ashton retook the lead on sixth and bet, which Leah called. That action repeated itself on seventh and Leah tabled aces and eights. It was good as Ashton flashed a few of his cards and then sent them to the muck.

Yuval Bronshtein Eliminated in 5th Place ($58,835)

Yuval Bronshtein - 5th Place
Yuval Bronshtein - 5th Place

Yuval Bronshtein: {a-Hearts}{4-Clubs} / {3-Spades}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Spades} / {6-Hearts}
Mike Leah: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs} / {6-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Spades} / {Q-Spades}
Matthew Ashton: {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} / {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{10-Clubs} / {3-Clubs}

Hand #63: After Yuval Bronshtein completed with the {3-Spades} up and Mike Leah called, Matthew Ashton raised with the {4-Spades} showing. Bronshtein three-bet it, Leah and Ashton called and it was three-way action to fourth street.

Ashton managed to pair his four and he led out, which both his opponents called. When Ashton led out on fifth, Leah raised, Bronshtein got all in for 52,000 and Ashton called. Ashton then check-called a bet on sixth before leading out on seventh. A couple of more raises ensued and finally the hands were tabled.

Leah showed eights full of queens for the high, and Ashton a wheel for the low. With that, Bronshtein was sent to the rail in fifth place with his 22nd WSOP cash in tow while the other two players chopped up the pot.

Tony Cousineau Eliminated in 6th Place ($44,543)

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Tony Cousineau - 6th Place
Tony Cousineau - 6th Place

Tony Cousineau: {a-Clubs}{5-Spades} / {a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{q-Hearts} / {x-}
Mike Leah: {5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} / {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{a-Spades}{6-Spades} / {7-Spades}

Hands #61: A short-stacked Tony Cousineau completed with the {A-Diamonds} up and Mike Leah, who was showing the {7-Diamonds}, called. Cousineau led out on fourth and did the same on fifth after Leah called. Instead of calling on fifth, Leah raised it and then called when Cousineau three-bet all in.

Cousineau showed a pair of aces, which was good for the high at that point as Leah was sitting on a low. Unfortunately for Cousineau, sixth street gave Leah a straight to go with his low. Neither sixth nor seventh streets helped Cousineau, and he was eliminated in sixth place.

Not only that, Cousineau added to his streak of most WSOP cashes, now at 55, without a WSOP bracelet.
