Event #20: $3,200 NLH High Roller
Day 1 Completed
On Tuesday night, the 2021 World Series of Poker Online Event #20: $3,200 NLH High Roller attracted 312 total entries, which resulted in a $948,840 prize pool.
The tournament marked the second high roller event on the 2021 WSOP schedule, and after more than 12 hours of play, it was Sang "youngkoi" Lee coming out on top to win a $241,768 top prize and his first career bracelet.
Prior to the win, Lee had 37 WSOP-related cashes totaling $192,340 with one circuit ring under his belt after he took down Event #14: $250 NLH in the 2019/20 WSOP Circuit - WSOP.COM Super Circuit Series (Online Circuit) for $36,618.
Place | Player | Prize |
---|---|---|
1 | Sang "youngkoi" Lee | $241,768 |
2 | Daniel "juice" Buzgon | $149,386 |
3 | David "dehhhhh" Coleman | $103,720 |
4 | Christopher "Basile28" Basile | $71,990 |
5 | Zachary "Kings702" Grech | $51,502 |
6 | Jeremy "Chipchecka" Ausmus | $38,129 |
7 | Caesar "MadMaz" Mazzeo | $28,549 |
8 | John "Macallan25" Riordan | $21,341 |
After two-time WSOP bracelet winner James "muskrrr" Moore exited as the bubble bout in 36th place, the in-the-money eliminations came at a steady pace which included four-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeff "NedrudRelyt" Madsen (33rd - $6,639), two-time WSOP bracelet winner Anthony "heheh" Zinno (20th - $7,588), Matt "RubberFist" Stout (15th - $10,718), Joseph "biueberry" Cheong (11th - $13,184), Ralph "sosana" Perry (10th - $13,184), and "JIGESH" (9th - $16,598).
The final table saw most players sitting fairly deep with John "Macallan25" Riordan being the exception as he held less than 10 big blinds when he bowed out in eighth place after jamming with a suited king-queen only to be called by Zachary "Kings702" Grech holding a pair of ladies.
Christopher "Basile28" Basile was dealt back-to-back pocket pairs and eliminated Caesar "MadMaz" Mazzeo in seventh place with kings, then Jeremy "Chipchecka" Ausmus in sixth place with queens.
Not long after, Grech hit the elimination train when he jammed his stack into the middle after the flop holding ace-king and was called Lee holding a pair of aces. Grech did turn a broadway draw but he bricked the river and was sent home in fifth place.
With four players remaining the stacks were even and extremely deep, each player sat with roughly 20 big blinds. As blinds were 20-minutes in length, a few went by with Daniel "juice" Buzgon collecting a few doubles to gain enough chips to set up Basile in fourth place.
Three-handed action saw Buzgon hold a chip advantage and that grew after he won a flip with a made hand of nines against David "dehhhhh" Coleman holding Big Slick, dropping him in third place.
Even though Buzgon held a 3:1 chip advantage, Lee secured an early double which led to a series of back-and-forth double-ups until Lee got the final one to eliminate Buzgon in second place.
The 2021 WSOP Online continues on Wednesday with Event #21: $600 PLO 6-Max. PokerNews will be live reporting and streaming the action, so be sure to join us then.

No stage in poker stood as a bigger goal for a tournament player than the final table of the WSOP Main Event. For years, that meant going to sleep knowing you had the chance of a lifetime, to go down in poker history in the next few days as the cameras captured your every bet, raise and fold.
All of that changed in 2008.
The year after Jerry Yang's Main Event victory was broadcast to all on ESPN's standard tape delay, organizers made a decision to try to increase the excitement and anticipation around the final table: after the final nine was reached, play would be paused. At that point, everyone left would go home with 9th-place money and the players would reconvene a few months later to play out the final table on a short tape delay.
That lasted until 2016, and this is the history of the November (and October) Nines.
