Nielsen Gets Thin Value

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Kevin Martin opened to 1,100 from early position and the cutoff, Laurids Nielsen on the button, and the big blind all made the call.

The flop came {q-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Spades}, the big blind and Martin both checked. The cutoff bet 2,700 and only Nielsen made the call.

On the {2-Diamonds} turn both players checked their option. The {a-Hearts} completed the board and the cutoff checked. Nielsen elected on a bet of 5,300 and after some thought the cutoff flicked in a chip for the call and was shown {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for flopped top-pair. The cutoff flashed {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for a worse kicker.

"Was that king-queen off", said Martin jokingly. "Is that not good enough?", replied Nielsen in a playful manner.

"I won't berate you for it", replied Martin as Nielsen stacked his chips.
