The Lyons Downard Spiral

Level 29 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante

Pat Lyons was left steaming after Josh Reichard called a bet of just under a million with bottom pair. Lyons then told the table they'd be luck if he didn't make final table, because that was when his prowess would kick into full action.

Just after that Lyons played a pot against Alex Keating where they saw a flop of 2?9?10?. Both players checked and the 5? peeled.

This time Keating led for 500,000 and was quickly called by Lyons, bringing the J?. Keating checked the river and now Lyon's placed a bet of 900,000; similarly sized to the hand he was caught bluffing earlier. Keating thought a while, saying it was a bad river for his hand but eventually made the call.

Lyons quickly tabled the A?Q? for just ace high and Keating turned over Q?9? to scoop the pot with a pair of nines.

Fazel Dawood Eliminated in 16th Place ($26,210)

Level 29 : Blinds 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Fazel Dawood
Fazel Dawood

Fazel Dawood was all in preflop with a covering stack versus Christian Harder

Christian Harder: A?J?
Fazel Dawood: A?8?

The board ran out 9?10?10?5?Q?. Harder held with the superior ace and Dawood was left short-stacked.

Not long afterwards, Dawood moved all in from the cutoff from his last 180,000 chips, receiving calls from Josh Reichard in the small blind and Guoliang Wei in the big blind.

The flop came A?4?2? and both Reichard and Wei checked, leading to the Q? turn. Reichard checked, Wei bet 400,000 and Reichard folded, leaving Dawood at risk versus Wei going into the river.

Fazel Dawood: Q?9?
Guoliang Wei: A?4?

Wei was ahead with two pair, aces and fours, but Dawood did have a diamond flush draw. The 8? river was a blank, ending Dawood's deep run while Wei took down another big pot.

Johnathan Stanton Eliminated in 17th Place ($26,210)

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Johnathan Stanton
Johnathan Stanton

Johnathan Stanton went all in from under the gun and it appeared it might get through until Nozomu Shimizu made the call in the big blind.

Nozomu Shimizu: 7?7?
Johnathan Stanton: K?Q?

The flop was a tease for Stanton as the window was a Q?, shortly followed by the 7?2?, giving Shimizu a set. The turn did give Stanton some hope with the 10?, as he had a flush draw but the 5? bricked the river, awarding the chips to Shimizu.

Lyons Coolers Keating

Level 28 : Blinds 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

After a series of raises preflop Pat Lyons found himself all in and at risk for approximately 2,850,000 versus Alex Keating.

Pat Lyons: A?Q?
Alex Keating: A?A?

Keating had Lyons crushed with pocket-aces but Lyons did pick up a little bit of equity on the 9?10?Q? flop. He picked up some chop outs on the J? turn before spiking trips on the Q? river to double up through Keating.

"You know what the good thing is about taking a bad beat to Pat Lyons?" Keating asked the table after the pot. "It's that Pat Lyons has all the chips!" Keating joked as Lyons scooped a massive pot.
